Boo Crew

WELCOME EVERYONE!
We are in our second year. Still Just a baby monster today. But, we will grow into a ferocious giant. Our haunting has just begun and with the generous help of each of you we can’t go wrong. This year we are putting the finishing touches on the trail and crypt during the first two weeks in September from Sept. 2 to the 20th (our preview night). If you would like you can pick your spot on the trail or in the crypt and design it the way you want. It’s easy for self motivated monsters simply come out any day. We are at the farm from mid morning to early evening each day. The Corn Maize opens Sept. 2nd . How scary can you make it?

We are all volunteers at Carlson’s Crypt. Each of you will receive a tee shirt the first night you participate. After the third night you receive two free RIP tickets and you will be invited to our end of season bash. Where we will all celebrate our generous contribution. (Our Time).

The haunting begins with our sneak preview nights. September 20th and 27th form dark till midnight. Patrons may be the first to experience our terror for just $10.00 on these nights. The haunted trail and night maize open for the regular season on October 2nd and is open each Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from dusk till midnight with the last night being November1st. Please be here early enough to get into costume and be at your station the moment it turns dark.

Customer service is of utmost importance to us. We must send customers away happy and wanting more. At no time is anyone to argue with a customer. YES IT’S TRUE, THEY ARE ALWAYS RIGHT !!!! If there is a security issue please let security handle it. We believe that the way we handle ourselves around the customers has a direct reflection on the success of our attraction. So please respect the customer and work hard to make them happy even if they are being rude.

There is no such thing as too many monsters at a Haunted Attraction. There is lots and lots of duties to be preformed each night and the more we offer patrons to do the more likely they will go away excited about next year.
We must have:
Security
Monsters
Lots of monsters
Extras that would be nice:
Fortune Teller
Tarot Card Reader
Face Painting
Live Entertainment

And much more I’m sure we haven’t considered. PLEASE SHARE YOUR IDEAS!!!!!
Many of you have experience working at other haunted attractions and we are always interested in what has worked for others. We need each of you as our partners if we are to succeed and become known as the haunted attraction to attend which brings us to promotion.

We are in the Kent Harvest Trails
We are planning to be part of a haunted bus tour on WSNX the second week in October. They will be giving away 80 tickets on the air and provide web exposure and commercials. If the bus trip goes as planned it will visit The Haunt in GR, Forest of Fear in Kalamazoo and Carlson’s Crypt. Promotion starts for the bus tour on October 1st .

We are in the October issue of Discount Saver distributed to over 40,000 homes.
We are posting fliers and counter coupons everywhere we get. If you know of someplace you could place our fliers on the counter let us know. You can get some to give out. Thanks in advance.
We would also like to share a bit about ourselves with you like how we came to get involved in haunting. We are Brother and Sister (Bert and Tracey). In February of 2006 our Father tragically died in a car crash and we inherited this farm. God Bless his Soul he will be a real spirit in the mix. Upon much soul searching we decided we would look into what it takes to make a haunted house. We wanted to have it in our barn and spent much time working with the township only to be told that they would not give the necessary variances we would need. We learned that an outdoor attraction falls under our right to farm. So in 2007 we constructed our first outdoor haunted trail and corn maize. It was good but this year it is twice as long and goes deep into the woods and swamp, We spent the winter attending trade shows and conventions for the haunted house industry and going on tours with the lights on to learn how some of the most popular haunted houses are constructed. We have hobnobbed with professionals from all over America and learned a lot. But we especially learned that we are not alone our ideas are not crazy and others will laugh but it’s ok. They just don’t understand. So there you have it our story.
In closing we would like to thank each of you in advance for your interest in haunting and being a part of our baby monster so that we can all benefit from the ferocious giant it will become.
Thank You,
Bert Carlson
Tracey Pepper

We are also a daytime pumpkin farm and corn maize. During the day customers can purchase a pumpkin and we will gut it for them for free and they can then carve it using our safe carving tools. We also have a corn maize and scavenger hunt. On weekends I would like more activities and games available. If you or anyone you know likes to work with children and is interested in organizing games or activities for the wee goblins let me know.
Thanks again
